Golden Canyon is one of the most popular hikes in Death Valley. Located near Furnace Creek the trailhead is easy to access and there are a number of variations to the route, including Zabriskie Point overlooking the badlands. Although a popular hike, we were there during peak season and crossed very few other hikers.
The Golden Canyon and Gower Gulch Hike is a 4-mile loop trail. There is some walking up and down steep hills with narrow cliff-side paths and a little bit of rock scrambling, but I would still rate it an easy to moderate hike. The trail is well marked but a few signs are hard to spot and it would be extremely easy to get lost.
